Needing Inspiration?

Nope! None at all. I must say that I am the most confident I have ever been in this process to date. And I have a gut feeling as the days pass it will only make me more and more joyous, inspired, and compassionate. The latest steps in the adoption process have brought me much closer to the final goal: Bringing Beamluk home. Though they may be baby steps, I'm finally seeing the progress after lots emotions, dedication, waiting, patience... you name it, I've felt it.

I spoke to Beamluk on Friday! It was an impromtu call actually. I wanted to speak to her so badly and looked at the clock... 11 am my time, translating into 7 pm her time meaning that she would just be finishing her dinner. Yippee! Definitely possible. I just needed someone to answer the phone.

Maeza came through for me! She informed me that she would have someone run to get Beamluk so I could speak to her. Just how much I love these girls is just not possible to convey in everyday words. I owe them my entire heart. (side note: Maeza scored a "good mark" on her nursing exam, she's going very well and working hard!)

While awaiting Beamluk she told me that I wouldn't believe the changes in Beamluk (little tear) because she's getting so big and trying to learn English (without bribes of food and juice :) ) I learned first hand her desire to speak English as she got on the phone:

Beamluk: Bettina yay?
Me: Hi Bamlie yay!
Beamluk: How are you, are you fine?
Me: I'm fine, how are you? Are you fine? Dana nesh?
Beamluk: I'm fine. Are you fine?
Me: Yes, Bamlie, very much.
Beamluk: I miss you. I love you.
Me: I miss you very very much and love you very very much. Betam betam nafakush, betam betam eweadeshallo.
Beamluk: I miss you.
Me: I miss you too, how is school, timertbait?
Beamluk: Fine

And it continued on... she wouldn't speak Amharic. I tried to clarify things in Amharic as you can see a little, but she was persistent that she would only answer things in English. And when she didn't know the words, she didn't speak. I must say, it was endearing. Extremely precious. I have rarely heard her speak in English and to hear a whole conversation in it was just the cutest thing. And the fact that she is now trying to learn, it just makes me smile and cry at the same time.
