A great little chronicle from Maryn Tsegerida when she spent the day at the pool with Bamlie! I can't wait to see her witty, frank and sweet-hearted personality develop...
"Yesterday we spent the day with Beamluk and Maryn Tsegerida was so excited she could barely control herself or sit still! She proudly told Beamluk that our house was the cleanest house she's ever seen! (our hotel room) When we arrived she proudly showed Beamluk our room including the bathroom and all her clothes. We've learned from our driver over the past few weeks that Maryn is very afraid of the Police and it seems that the older kids at the orphanage would tease her and tell her the Police we're coming for her. Well as Maryn, Beamluk and I were waiting for Anbes to pick us up there was a Police Officer directing traffic at the Hilton, when things slowed he came over and said Hello to the girls. Maryn immediately clung to me very tightly as she looked him up and down, after about 5 minutes she said to him “Police?” He replied “yes” and I told him she was afraid of the police, well about another 5 minutes passed and all of the sudden she called out “police…” and then the rest was in Amharic (the officer translated for me after the fact) she said, "This is Beamluk and her mother is Bettina and this is my mother so you can not take us!" Now let me tell you- she was not saying this nicely- she was all fired up and practically screaming at the man. This comes from my little sweet pea who is deathly afraid of police officers! She's just like her mommy was when she was little!"
***Mind you, I've been informed that she has reassured Bamlie that I'm her mom on several occasions! I love this little girl to death.
