News from Kechene! I just tried to call Maeza at Kechene so I could speak to Beamluk and some of the other children there. Sadly, Bamlie was out, but she was on an important mission!
This week there is an African Union meeting, with most if not all of the African Presidents in attendance. The meeting is being held as it is every year in Addis Ababa. Beamluk, Maeza told me, is on Bole Road. I was a bit curious, thinking who is taking her across town during the night? Well, she's stationed at the airport awaiting the arrival of Presidents! It is her responsibility to present flowers to the Presidents as they arrive at the airport tonight.
This is a great honor and is something that is usually reserved for the older girls and boys at Kechene. Tonight was her lucky night! I wish I was there to take photos and of course give her a hug or two, or three, or four, or....
But Maeza assured me she will send Bamlie my love.
