Update from Maeza

Hello All! I just received an update from Maeza, a 16 year old girl who lives at Kechene and someone I became very close with during my months there. She is currently attending nursing college with the financial assistance of Laura, a great friend of mine. She is doing very well in her classes and lovingly sends me updates about Beamluk. Here are the few sentences I was lucky enough to receive:

"Beamluk is also fine and she always thinks about you. She has received the things you sent her."

and

"
Beamly also misses you. She keeps on asking me when you will come here again."

It just breaks my heart to think that she can't understand why I have to be away for so long, as the longest we were apart for the 10 months I was in-country was 3 weeks at a time. I know she has a lot of support there and has her God Mother looking after her (she lives in a small home on the orphanage grounds), so it helps me feel assured she is being loved and cared for even in my absence.

But there is some great news! My I-600A form has officially been filed and I'm on my way to my home study!! It's been a long and very frustrating road, but it's all been worth it, 100 times over.

Well that's it for now! Next week I'll be calling Kechene and speaking with Beamluk on the phone!! I just can't wait!! Thanks to my assistant who travels to Kechene just to hand his mobile over to Bamlie :)

Lots of Love!

I am so interested in your route to your daughter since it is so different from all of the other stories I read. My husband and I are trying to add to our family and I am asking everyone who seems to remind me of us, ie. not traditional, to give us a little insight into thier process. please e-mail me at nia (dot) fonow (at) fcps (dot) edu if you have a moment and feel comfortable talking about this with a complete stranger!!
Thanks,
Nia
